We spent Labor Day Weekend in Telluride, Co. This is during the Telluride Film Festival which has debuted such films as Last King in Scotland, Slum Dog Millionaire, and King Speaks. This year the buzz film seemed to be My Material World which is a film about George Harrison. I didn't see the film but understand that it is over 3 hours long! You might want to buy the bigger size popcorn. I was hopping to have a picture of George Clooney who was supposedly here but alas I didn't chance to spot him. So you are getting a picture of the San Miguel River on a new hike I discovered. By the way the temperatures were in the high 60's to low 70's. Perfect for fall.

Recently in Telluride
This is a picture of Steve and I after hiking up Bear Creek Canyon in Telluride, Co. Steve isn't big on hiking but was gracious enough to consent to hike with me to Bear Creek Falls on our wedding anniversary last month. The hike is about 3 miles round trip with about 1000 foot elevation gain. Because of the amount of late snowfall this year in the San Juan Mountains all the area waterfalls were bigger than we had ever seen them at this time of year.

I made the local paper!
Check out this site: http://www.telluridenews.com/ . Every Monday in one of the town parks is offered a free yoga class in Telluride. This last Monday someone was there taking pictures and guess what I was in it and the picture make the front page of the Telluride Daily Planet. Do you see me? One hint - I am in real need of a haircut.

Case of the missing sunglasses
We are in Telluride currently for a few days enjoying some spring skiing. The slopes got 22 inches of fresh powder two days ago so the skiing is wonderful. We were here late January when Steve while walking around town tripped on some ice and his sunglasses fell out out of his coat pocket. They were prescription sunglasses of course. Steve retraced his steps and couldn't find locate them. Tellluride is a quaint town of about 2200 permanent residents so Steve called the marshal's office and asked if they had a lost and found. They didn't; but recommended he call the local radio station - KOTO. KOTO is a radio station based in Telluride run by volunteers and plays a variety of interesting music depending on the tastes of the volunteer DJ. Steve called KOTO and was informed that they would mention his lost sunglasses on the radio. Lo and behold the next day we got a telephone call from Laura who works in an office here in town and who had picked up Steve's sunglasses. This is one of the many reasons I love being in Telluride.

Telluride
I was hiking today and took this picture on the trail above Telluride. This is basically the town set in a box canyon. The long streets run west to east. There is only one road into town unless you want to count a couple of the four wheel jeep trails which run over the mountains. The weather is great right now with the temperature getting into the 70's every day and the nights cooling down to the 50's.

Bear Creek Falls, Telluride
This is not your average site along the side of the road. I had to hike two miles through a canyon with a 1000 foot elevation gain. That's why I love hiking! But isn't it beautiful! This is Bear Creek Falls just outside of Telluride, Colorado. It is probably the most popular hike. Just head up to the end of Pine Street and the trail head starts from there.
